Neat essential oils can cause sensitisation or chemical burns on skin.
Extra care for children
Use 0.25–0.5% max for children 2–10. Avoid completely for infants under 2.
Check during pregnancy
Many oils are contraindicated. Consult a qualified aromatherapist.
Avoid photosensitising oils
Citrus oils (bergamot, lime, lemon) can cause burns when used before sun exposure.
Keep away from eyes
Flush with carrier oil (not water) if accidental eye contact occurs.
